90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable

In Australia, there are many factors that can be causing blindness that are ultimately preventable and treatable. This includes:

  • not having or using the correct glasses (uncorrected refractive error)
  • cataracts
  • macular degeneration
  • diabetic retinopathy
  • glaucoma

We can help …

What more could you be seeing?

Keep your vision at its best – clear, sharp, focused.

Your retina is a delicate lining at the back of the eye similar to film in a camera. An unhealthy retina cannot send clear signals to your brain, which can result in poor vision. You may see clearly and experience no pain, but can still have early, treatable signs. Examining the retina is challenging.

Your Optometrist looks through your pupil to examine the back of your eye. A picture is worth a thousand words and imaging allows us to detect change across time, a key in early detection of some eye conditions.

Your retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to eye conditions, signs of other diseases (for example, stroke, heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes) can also be seen in the retina. Early signs of these conditions can show on your retina long before you notice any changes to your vision or feel pain. While eye exams generally include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy.

Our eye exams are unique

Our eye exams use wide field technology to see further. Our wide field helps us detect eye conditions earlier and treat them more effectively. Traditional methods show only 15% of your retina, our widefield captures 80%. We can generally use this technology without eyedrops, and takes only seconds, making it accessible for all age groups. We have this technology at all of our locations, unlike many chains.

We recommend eye exams every year. Book yours today.

Wider imagery of your eye

OCT

Our OCT allows us to view the retina in 3D, looking at each of the delicate layers which maintain our good vision. Through sequential examinations, we are able to model your eye changes in 4D, which detects changes 5-10 years before other technology. This is where we detect subtle macula changes long before they are macular degeneration, and our optic nerve combination sees accelerated changes which can become glaucoma, well before you lose vision. We are then able to advise on preventative eye care on an individual basis to protect your eyes for longer.
