We’re excited to share with you some of the ways we’re committed to making your experience with us as comfortable and inclusive as possible.
Sunflower Recognition Initiative
You may have noticed some of our patients wearing bright yellow Sunflower Lanyards adorned with a sunflower emblem. These lanyards are part of the Sunflower Recognition Initiative, a global movement designed to support individuals with hidden disabilities. If you’re wearing one, it lets our staff know that you may appreciate some extra assistance or understanding during your visit.
Quiet Hours
We understand that navigating through an Optometrist can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you have sensory sensitivities or anxiety. That’s why we’ve introduced Quiet Hours, where we create a calm and soothing environment by reducing noise levels, dimming lights, and minimising disruptions.
Whether you’re here for a comprehensive eye exam, looking for new frames, or seeking advice on vision-related concerns, our Quiet Hours ensure that you can relax and feel at ease during your time with us.
At our practices, we believe that clear vision goes beyond what you see through your lenses. It’s about seeing you for who you are and providing the support you need to thrive. We’re proud to take these meaningful steps towards a more inclusive future in eye care, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Here are some of the ways we most commonly support our patients.
Please sit down- we will come to you when the practice has quietened down
You may prefer to come during our quiet hours. If that time doesn’t suit you, we are happy to make you an appointment time so you don’t feel rushed.
You are most welcome to bring your assistance dog – we know not to interact with a dog while they’re working.
We adjust glasses to accommodate aids regularly. Please bring yours with you when you choose and collect your glasses, even if you don’t always need it, so we can make sure your glasses and aids are comfortable together.
We typically  communicate directly with you, but we understand that sometimes caregivers may assist with communication. Please feel free to let us know if we should make any adjustments to accommodate your preferences.
We do need to come close to adjust your glasses, and for some of our eye tests. If that’s tricky for you, please let us know so we can be as efficient as possible.

We can do almost everything at a distance. We do need to come close to adjust your glasses, and for some of our eye tests. We’ll work with you on the day to make our testing as complete as possible, while making sure you’re comfortable.
If you’re not sure where the closest toilet is, just ask. We’re  happy to direct you, and you can use ours where we have one.
If something else would help you, please let us know. We’ll do our best.
At Eyes & Vision, we believe in the importance of thorough and personalized eye care.
