With Spring well and truly here, it’s time to get outside and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.
Time outside gives your eyes the opportunity to focus on objects near and far, reducing eye strain associated with working with things up close such as screens and tablets. Sunlight also provides your body with vitamin D, which it needs to absorb calcium, which in turn helps protect your bones, teeth and muscles and supports your immune system.
Getting your child outdoors for 80-120 minutes a day can also help reduce their risk of developing myopia and short-sightedness.
The Apple Watch “time in daylight” function can help you track how much time your child is spending soaking up all that vitamin D goodness. If your family member is sharing their health information with you, you can keep track of these details in the Health app on iPhone.
- Open the Health app on your iPhone, then tap Sharing.
- Tap the name of your family member below Sharing With You.
- Tap Health Categories, tap Other Data, then tap Time in Daylight.
